Organist-Part Time

A part-time position for an organist is currently available at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark, Ohio.

The job description is as follows:

The Church Organist shall provide appropriate musical accompaniment during worship services and other church programs.
Provide organ preludes, hymn accompaniment, liturgical accompaniment and choir anthem accompaniment at worship services for two services (an abbreviated Saturday afternoon service in the Chapel and a full traditional Sunday morning service in the Sanctuary).
Serve as organist for single services on Ash Wednesday, 5 further Wednesdays in Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve.
Be present for the regularly scheduled rehearsals of the Covenant Choir on Wednesday evenings during their season of singing, except during times of his/her vacation or for health or weather reasons.
Work cooperatively with the Choir Director (or Director of Music) and Pastor to choose hymns.
Work with organ/piano repair technicians and chain of command in reporting repair issues to ensure pipe organ and piano are properly maintained. The organ is a Wicks pipe organ, originally built in 1951, but most recently refurbished in 2015 when a new console was added.
