The funeral service for Pr. Virgil Wittenberg, previously scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2008, was cancelled because of the local snowstorm.
Mrs. Janet Wittenberg invites you to join her and her family for a Memorial Celebration Service in honor of Pastor Wittenberg on Saturday, March 15, 2008. The Memorial Celebration Service will be held at
St. John Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio at 12:30 pm.
The Rev. Virgil O. Wittenberg, 73, died peacefully early in the morning on March 5, 2008 surrounded by his wife and family.
Pr. Wittenberg is a graduate of Capital University and Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He was ordained on June 12, 1960 in the American Lutheran Church (ALC).
He served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in East Rochester, NY; The Church of the Abiding Savior in Durham, NC and Trinity Lutheran Church in Gibsonia, PA from which he retired in 1998.
Pr. Wittenberg is survived by his wife, Janet Wittenberg.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus St., Grove City, Ohio, 43213. Lunch at the church will follow. Visitation will held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Schoedinger-Norris Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
On Monday, March 10, the burial service will take place at 11:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, at the corner of county road Q1 and 17 in Napoleon Township, Ohio. Visitation with the family will be held at 10:30 am.
