UPFDA leadership gathered in Chicago on August 19–20, 2026, for two productive days of Board meetings, strategic planning, and networking. With nearly a full complement of Board members in attendance, along with several invited guests, the gathering brought fresh perspectives and enthusiastic discussions about upcoming events, new initiatives, and opportunities to strengthen member engagement.
The Board's planning sessions focused on several key priorities, including:
Regulatory Resources: Developing new resources to help members navigate the complex regulatory landscape, including a glossary of common regulatory terms and a directory of state and federal regulatory agencies. These resources will provide a foundation for expanding UPFDA's regulatory information and advocacy efforts.
Professional Product Stewardship: Exploring ways UPFDA can take a more proactive role in promoting responsible product distribution and use, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.
Membership Growth and Engagement: Identifying opportunities to strengthen connections with existing members, welcome prospective members, and demonstrate the value of UPFDA membership.
Charitable Partnerships: Building on the success of UPFDA's partnership with P.E.S.T. Relief and exploring ways to expand volunteer participation, industry awareness, and fundraising efforts in 2027.
PestWorld Activities: Planning opportunities to connect with members and prospective members during PestWorld, including personal outreach, networking events, and recognition of UPFDA member exhibitors.
Of course, a UPFDA gathering wouldn't be complete without some outstanding networking and camaraderie! Our host city of Chicago did not disappoint. President Pat Lynch, ACE, treated the group to a wonderful dinner at Harry Caray's Restaurant in Rosemont, where great food and lively conversation provided the perfect opportunity to strengthen friendships and connections beyond the boardroom.
The energy, thoughtful discussions, and shared commitment demonstrated throughout the meeting reflect what makes UPFDA such a valuable organization. A special thank-you goes to President Pat Lynch, our dedicated Board members, and the guests who contributed their time, ideas, and enthusiasm.
Together, UPFDA's leadership is laying the groundwork for another exciting year of collaboration, growth, and service to our members and the pest management industry. We'd love to have you join us! If you weren't able to attend this year, consider participating in our August 2027 Board meeting and planning sessions. Watch www.upfda.com for details as they become available.
