Dr. Seetharam is a retired senior executive at ExxonMobil with nearly 40 years of experience in the upstream industry and 33 years with ExxonMobil. In his current role as executive director of the University of Houston's ROICE program, Dr. Seetharam manages better than $3 million of research projects on repurposing, offshore renewables and CO2 sequestration.
Dr. Seetharam also consults on business development and techno-economics of CCS (carbon capture and sequestration) projects as founding member and managing partner at Energex Consultants.
Dr. Seetharam has broad upstream experience including subsurface, concept selection, project and oilfield economics, asset valuation, research, multi-functional team management, technical support to major capital projects and proven leadership skills. He has held multiple leadership positions managing and influencing multi-billion-dollar upstream projects around the world, including in Kazakhstan, Russia, the North Sea, the Middle East, as well as in unconventional plays.
In 2020, Dr. Seetharam was recognized as a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus by the University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering. He earned both a Ph.D. and a Master's in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston and a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
