Rosaprima Article

Rosaprima is not just a farm that grows iconic roses. They are a team of dedicated individuals committed to promoting environmental sustainability through responsible farming practices. Their passion for learning and improving is evident in their efforts to manage their land sustainably. As part of their reforestation initiatives, they protect and maintain approximately 50 hectares of trees that provide food and shelter for a variety of insects, birds, and small mammals, while also providing borders, shade, and protective barriers for their farm.

Rosaprima has partnered with independent organizations such as The Rainforest Alliance, SMETA and FlorEcuador to ensure that they adhere to industry guidelines for environmental responsibility. Their efforts have been recognized with certifications from these organizations. As a certified farm, they are audited every year to guarantee that they maintain and improve on the standards set by these organizations.

Rosaprima doesn't stop there. They are also leading the way in plastic reduction with their innovative 3R Program: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Plastic pollution has become one of the biggest environmental problems we face today, but Rosaprima is taking every step possible to make a positive impact. They have eliminated the use of plastic grafting tape, which creates waste. For over a decade, they have used a special biodegradable film instead, resulting in a significant impact for our environment.

They also collect and recycle all their greenhouse plastics with a specialized company, ensuring that the process is handled under strict guidelines that comply with all environmental standards. This recycling further contributes to a reduction in the overall need for virgin raw materials.

And they are continuously refining their packaging, learning and improving at every step. They have redesigned their boxes to use space more efficiently while providing the right support to keep their roses fresh and intact. This redesign has been so successful that they are now testing shipments with a couple customers without the use of plastic sleeves on each bunch while maintaining the same quality they are known for.

In a world where the production of plastic has skyrocketed, Rosaprima has shown that it is possible to make a difference. Their 3R Program and other initiatives are continuously evolving, serving as an example of how we can all contribute to reducing our plastic use.
