Administrative Professional of the Year Award

The Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association (WSFCA) has established the Administrative Professional of the Year as an honorary title for Administrative Professionals within the Wisconsin Fire Service. This award is reserved for those individuals serving as Administrative Assistants, Executive Secretaries, Secretaries, or support staff employed by a WSFCA Fire Department/Fire Protection District member. The establishment of the status of Administrative Professional of the Year is recommended as a method of recognizing outstanding contributions to the Wisconsin Fire Service.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD

  • Current position of Administrative Assistant, Executive Secretary, Secretary, or support staff of a Fire Department or Fire Protection District in Wisconsin.
  • Department must be a member of the Wisconsin Fire Chief’s Association.
  • Five years of service within the Fire Service.
  • Nomination letter and application highlighting achievements and service to the fire service and community.
  • Recommendation letter(s) from supervisors/colleagues/peers and the Chief of the Department.
  • Supporting documents (e.g., copies of certificates, Executive Support Program completions, educational achievements/degrees, etc.).
  • Current headshot of nominee & brief biography (to be published if the award is won)

Recommended Items for the Nominating Packet (not required):

  • Education and/or Certifications.
  • State/national contributions.
  • Contributions to fire service (including membership/participation in fire service organizations, such as Wisconsin Fire Administrative Association or other similar organizations).
  • Contributions or interaction with the community.
  • Organizational contributions (national, state, or local).
  • The nominee’s current resume detailing the candidate’s involvement in the fire service.

No politicking is permitted:
The nomination form and supporting documents comprise the entire documentation for a candidate’s nomination. Neither the nominee nor anyone representing him or her is to contact the WSFCA staff, directors, or any members of the nomination/selection committee after the nomination has been made and before the final selection has been made. Any violations of this will subject the nominee to disqualification. The WSFCA is not responsible for submissions received past the deadline due to shipping or electronic errors.

Nomination Deadline:
May 22, 2026

Selection Process:
Each nomination package will be reviewed by a selection committee to select the winners. The WSFCA reserves the right to omit an award. Winners will be announced at the WSFCA Annual Conference during the President's Dinner, and will be featured in an issue of Wisconsin Fire Chief magazine.
