This award recognizes superior contributions of an Associate Certified Entomologist in the field of structural pest management.
Kurt Treftz, co-founder and director of Cascade Pest Control since 1979, has been an influential leader within the Washington State Pest Management Association (WSPMA). His commitment to education and growth has significantly impacted both his team and the broader industry. Treftz has previously served as president of WSPMA, chaired the Ethics and Environmental Awareness Committees, and played a pivotal role in adopting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, leading Cascade Pest Control to earn numerous environmental awards.
Under Treftz's leadership, Cascade Pest Control has achieved remarkable success, with 65% of its technicians holding ESA certifications. The company boasts six Certified IPM Technicians and seven Associate Certified Entomologists. Treftz's dedication to certification and professional development sets a high standard for the industry.
In addition to his professional achievements, Treftz initiated the Dr. Laurel Hansen Scholarship at Washington State University, turning it into an endowed scholarship with broad industry support. His efforts have made a lasting impact on the pest management community.
