ECA 2015 Convention - Kenneth Burke Interest Group - Call for Submissions

Call for Papers

KENNETH BURKE INTEREST GROUP

106th Annual Convention Eastern Communication Association

“Deliberate: Philadelphia”

Philadelphia, PA

Sheraton Society Hill

April 22-26, 2015

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, October 15, 2014

The Kenneth Burke Interest Group invites papers, program proposals, and roundtable discussions for the 106th Annual ECA Convention that will be held from April 22-26, 2015 at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The convention theme, “Deliberate: Philadelphia,” promises great opportunities for us to participate in meaningful, scholarly dialogue. Program proposals might focus on opening spaces for deliberation on various topics, and need not be “about” the process of deliberating. We might engage Burke’s writings in deliberating contemporary issues. We might debate issues confronted in Burke’s work or place Burke’s ideas in conversation with those of other theorists. We might explore Burke’s vision of deliberation.

Please note that creative, interactive formats and cosponsored programming are especially encouraged. If you believe that your proposal would serve the needs of more than one Interest Group or the general membership, submit (no later than the October 15, 2014 deadline) to the Primary Convention Planner (J. Kanan Sawyer: ecaphilly2015@gmail.com) as well as Interest Group Chairs for all potentially involved groups. As with paper and traditional panels, all co-sponsored panel submissions must go through peer-review and receive Interest Group and/or Primary Planner acceptance.

General information about the convention and the 2015 Conference can be found at http://www.ecasite.org/aws/ECA/pt/sp/p_convention_main.

All submissions must be sent via e-mail, with attachment(s) in Word format, to the 2015 Program Planner by October 15, 2014. Please include “KB Division ECA Submission” in all email subject headings. Any questions, programming suggestions, and ideas concerning the Kenneth Burke Interest Group are welcome. Direct submissions and inquiries to:

Dr. Jean Costanza Miller, The George Washington University, jcmiller@gwu.edu
