Director of Government Affairs

Chris Vaughan serves as the Director of Government Affairs for OCTA as well as manager of Cable-PAC, the Ohio cable industry's political action committee. Prior to joining the OCTA in January of 2000, Chris worked in the Ohio Senate as a Legislative Aide focusing on Technology and Economic Development policy. Chris earned a B.A. in political science from the Ohio State University and minored in psychology and social change. Chris' responsibilities include: Development and implementation of a legislative strategy for the Association; Working with the Executive Vice President and Board of Directors to identify legislative issues which impact the telecommunications industry, analyzing the impact of such issues and recommending strategies which achieve desirable results; Assisting the EVP in regulatory affairs as they relate to issues before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or other state/federal government agencies; Managing the Association's political action committee and political action trust, including the solicitation of funds, disbursement of contributions, completion and timely filing of all government-required forms and reports; Representing the Association as a spokesperson in forums, meetings, educational sessions, industry groups and coalitions and with media; Informing association members of pertinent legislative issues and initiating appropriate grassroots activity when needed. In addition to the previously mentioned work experience, Chris has extensive experience on campaigns including the 2000 National Republican Convention, and numerous other federal, state and local campaigns.

Chris is a member of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus's Corporate Roundtable and serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Community Computing Network. He is also actively involved in the Columbus community serving as a member of the Ambassadors Council at the Capital Club, the Museum Associates Board at the Columbus Museum of Art, The Big Event Committee for the Wexner Center for the Arts, and on the Board of Directors for the ROYGBIV Art Gallery.
