Who are the members of ACEC Ohio?
The membership of ACEC Ohio is comprised of private companies that offer a wide array of engineering and consulting services for all types of construction and environmental projects, including bridges, highways, buildings (including their mechanical, electrical, plumbing and security and communications systems), water and wastewater facilities and hazardous waste remediation consulting. They provide services to government agencies and commercial and industrial clients in Ohio and all across the U.S. and internationally.
ACEC Ohio member companies may consist of one engineer practicing as a sole proprietor or a large number of engineers and support staff in a large corporate setting.
Only engineering companies that have an office in the state of Ohio and are licensed by the state of Ohio are eligible for membership in ACEC Ohio.

Are engineering companies regulated or licensed by the state of Ohio?
Yes. Only companies that have obtained a Certificate of Authorization from the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors may provide, or offer to provide, engineering services to the public. No company may be issued a Certificate of Authorization unless it meets the specific requirements of the Ohio Revised Code section 4733.16
Does ACEC Ohio admit affiliate or associate members?
Yes, ACEC Ohio has an Affiliate Member classification.
An Affiliate Member is one that supports the goals of ACEC Ohio and provide professional services of a scientific and technical nature that are complementary to the services provided by Member Companies.

Yes. While ACEC Ohio does not directly sponsor a retirement program for consulting engineering firms, our national association, the American Council of Engineering Companies, does sponsor an excellent program that is used by many ACEC Ohio Member Firms. I need professional liability insurance. Can ACEC Ohio help?
There are many reputable providers of professional liability insurance for engineering companies, most notably XL Design Professional, CNA (managed by Victor O. Schinnerer & Co.), RAMCO and Zurich-American. ACEC Ohio does not endorse any particular provider.
In order to obtain several competitive proposals, it is generally advisable to consult with an insurance broker who specializes in professional liability insurance and has access to a number of different carriers. One such broker is Oswald Companies, an Affiliate Member of ACEC Ohio, with offices in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
I need workers' compensation for my business. Does ACEC Ohio have a program?
ACEC Ohio sponsors Sedgwick Workers' Compensation program.
