Position: Peer Support Team Lead

Assignment Location:  635 N. Erie St. Toledo, OH  

Minimum Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists WIC participants with establishing breastfeeding and meeting goals (direct pt care).
  2. Assists with maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and developing employees; helps perform personnel functions such as preparing performance appraisals, approving leave and monitoring leave usage; meets program goals by coaching, counseling, and assisting with corrective action; addresses employee problems.
  3. Helps complete payroll and financial components including approving time, assisting with cost analysis, acting as a travel delegate, and applying for and administering grants.
  4. Coordinates breastfeeding promotion and support services within the WIC project and local community.
  5. Ensures staff knowledge of breastfeeding counseling requirements.
  6. Mentors staff to enhance their basic breastfeeding knowledge.
  7. Plans and delivers trainings for local staff, agency staff, and other community members as applicable.
  8. Networks with community agencies and organizations to promote breastfeeding as the accepted community norm.
  9. Consults and collaborates with other members of the client’s health care team.
  10. Maintains a resource list of breastfeeding support services and makes referrals as appropriate.
  11. Coordinates the breastfeeding peer helper program.
  12. Trains and manages all breastfeeding Peer Helper staff according to WIC Policy.
  13. Responds to all Breastfeeding-related correspondence between the local project and ODH, including but not limited to pump surveys, pump ordering, pump receipt, and storage.
  14. Maintains current knowledge of all breast pumps which are distributed by WIC.
  15. Maintains accurate pump inventory, issuance logs, and tracking forms for the local project.
  16. Analyzes and shares local project breastfeeding data.
  17. Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual program reporting.
  18. Shares knowledge obtained from continuing education programs.
  19. Adheres to PHAB and Quad Core Council core competencies including, but not limited to: PHAB T2: 2.2.6, 3.4.2, 4.6.1, 6.3.6, 7.2.2, 7.4.4, & QUAD 2B8 and 8B13.
  20. Participates in quality improvement efforts and achieving PHAB accreditation requirements. This position will be responsible for using quality improvement (QI) processes and/or techniques to improve the effectiveness of the assigned public health program.
  21. Attends and participates in conferences, seminars, trainings, or related education classes as assigned.

This position is classified as Office -2 setting and performs a wide range of functions for the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. Further information may be obtained from Human Resources.
