ECA 2021 Convention - Community College IG Updates

Hello ECA CCIG colleagues,

We are about a month away from the 112th Annual ECA Convention. As most of you are aware, the convention is virtual this year. The virtual conference platform, Pathable, will be launched mid-March. The preliminary program is now available and registration is open on the Convention page of the ECA website: https://www.ecasite.org/aws/ECA/pt/sp/convention_home. You will also find an introduction to the Pathable here: https://support.pathable.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055409651-Introduction-Start-Here

The cancellation of the 2020 ECA Convention left many of us feeling troubled. We experienced the disappointment and ache of witnessing so much hard work and effort vanish before our eyes.  We also did not have a business meeting where we could elect new interest group leadership. Thankfully, a few committed members stepped up to continue the important work of our interest group. As we look forward to the promise of resilient hope this convention brings, we will have much to do during our business meeting (Saturday, 3/27 8:00-8:45). Most importantly, we need to elect new leadership: Chair Elect, Secretary, and the 2022 Connect Conference Planner. Please take a few moments to consider if now is the time for you to step forward and demonstrate your leadership ability. Our success as an interest group rests heavily on the willingness and commitment of our members to serve. Consider nominating yourself or a colleague to one of the three open positions.  Second, we need to approve the minutes from the 2019 business meeting. Review them here: https://www.ecasite.org/aws/ECA/asset_manager/get_file/321935?ver=840. Last, we need to vote on our proposed CCIG bylaw changes. Review those changes here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YJU-Qmd-BcdHqdCHkRBpHqEJqbW0WmU5/view?usp=sharing.  Please note, reviewing these bylaws will also fill you in on the responsibilities of each leadership position.

I have condensed the Community College Interest Group sessions in chronological order below.  Consider attending these sessions in support of our members. In addition, a few of our members were named ECA’s 2020 Distinguished Teaching Fellows! They are presenting on Thursday, 3/25, 4:30-5:45, on the panel: 2020 ECA Distinguished Teaching Fellows: A Discussion About Pedagogy and Resiliency
