IME Sends Letter of Support for Doug Bergum to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior

Washington, DC – The Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) President Clark Mica today released the following statement in support of Doug Bergum to be the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior:

“The commercial explosives industry plays a vital role in ensuring our nation has an all-of-the-above energy portfolio that is both abundant and affordable. This includes traditional sources of energy like coal, oil, and natural gas. Commercial explosives also play a significant role in sourcing the critical minerals necessary for the manufacture of modern renewable energy technologies that are part of a low-carbon economy.

“We believe that Mr. Bergum will provide strong leadership as Secretary by developing and implementing an improved permitting process that ensures environmental protection, reduces red tape, promotes innovation and grows the economy.”
