Budget Update: Budget Passes both Chambers Now on to Governor

Last week the biennial budget moved from the Senate to conference committee, and this week, the final deliberations were made to reconcile the different versions. The Conference Committee issued its report late Tuesday night, sending the report to both Chambers for an up or down vote on Wednesday afternoon. Both the House and Senate approved the Conference Committee report on the proposed FY18-19 budget, HB49 (R. Smith), sending it on to the governor for his consideration -- and likely some vetoes. The House vote was 59-38 while the Senate vote was 24-8.  To review the complete summary prepared by LeadingAge Ohio lobbyist Barnes & Thornburg, click here.

LeadingAge Ohio is also preparing a complete summary including a comparison document of the Executive, House, Senate and Final versions of the budget, which it will send directly to members tomorrow. LeadingAge Ohio has worked tirelessly in partnership with our lobbyists to ensure aging Ohioans are at the forefront of our legislators’ minds, and encourages its members to use the upcoming Fourth of July recess to invite legislators to their communities so they can see firsthand the important work you do. Any member in need of assistance in setting up a legislator visit should reach out to Nisha Hammel, Director of Advocacy at nhammel@leadingageohio.org.
