Medicaid Shares MyCare Ohio Open Enrollment for NEW Next Gen Counties

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) has shared new details on MyCare Ohio open enrollment and the transition to the Next Gen MyCare model beginning January 1, 2026, in 29 additional counties.

Medicare open enrollment runs October 15–December 7, and Medicaid open enrollment runs November 1–30. For 2026, members may choose Anthem, CareSource, or Molina. While Buckeye is not accepting new members, current Buckeye participants will move automatically into the Next Gen plan if they take no action. The new model aligns Medicare and Medicaid benefits when members select the same plan for both programs.

ODM’s outreach includes member mailings, YouTube explainers, posts on @OhioMedicaid, and resources on the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline site. The hotline (800-324-8680) offers plan comparisons and enrollment assistance, with typical wait times under 30 seconds.

ODM confirmed that Anthem will directly manage MyCare Medicare and Medicaid services and that Area Agencies on Aging will continue coordinating waiver services, with some regions testing expanded delegation models. Members with Aetna or United will receive auto-assignment notices later this month. The updated Plan Comparison Guide is expected before Medicare open enrollment begins.
