DSDM Chapter - Horizontal Surfaces
This chapter is broken into 4 sections: Exterior paving, Interior flooring, thresholds, and stair treads. Abrasion resistance requirements for specific traffic volumes are defined in this section. Bonded mortar, membrane separated mortar, pedestal, sand, and thin set installation methods are discussed in the exterior and interior sections. Flatness tolerances of substrates and finished units, as well as allowable lippage in finished work are defined. The interior flooring section covers installations over concrete and woodframe floor systems, including heated floor systems. Maximum deflection recommendations for concrete and woodframe substrates are given. Abrasion resistance requirements for thresholds and stairs are defined. Eight pages of graphics are included with a variety of common details.
This chapter is taken from version 8.0 of the Dimension Stone Design Manual (DSDM). This manual is the stone industry's single-source reference for dimensional stone design and construction facts and details.
