About the Workshop:

This workshop is a partnership between the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association.  It is intended to provide attendees with information and knowledge regarding Ohio truck weight laws, how violations are identified and determined and familiarize attendees with the technical aspects of determining violations in the field. 

This knowledge is intended to reduce violations, ensure consistency and enhance the safety of Ohio roads.

Knowledge Gained:

  • Ohio Weight Laws and commodity specific variances.
  • Axle Weights, Gross Weights and Safe Operations
  • Understanding what constitutes “Reasonable Suspicion” for a traffic stop.
  • Demonstration of how trucks are weighed in the field.
  • How loading trucks can impact axle weight variations.
