Ohio Students Named to Civics & Law Honor Roll

COLUMBUS (April 30, 2019) – The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education is pleased to recognize and celebrate the achievements of Ohio high school students who are invested in civic learning and active in their communities.

The following students were nominated by a teacher or other civic leader and have been named to the OCLRE 2019 Civics & Law Honor Roll: Rita Armitage, Talawanda High School (Butler County); Shannon Benner, Circleville High School (Pickaway County); Caroline Bumgarner, Lakota East High School (Butler County); Steven Carey, Grove City High School (Franklin County); Tabitha Escalante, Eastwood Local Schools (Wood County); Isabella Griffiths, St. Joseph Catholic High School (Lawrence County); Bailey Harlow, Warren High School (Washington County); Justin Hartman, Findlay High School (Hancock County); Rees Jobe, Grove City High School (Franklin County); Sarah Kaplan, Indian Hill High School (Hamilton County); Albert Kwon, Indian Hill High School (Hamilton County); Anna Sofio, Reading High School (Hamilton County); Theodore Weng, Sycamore High School (Hamilton County); Hannah Clark and Ethan Nichols, Leaves of Learning (Hamilton County).

The Civics & Law Honor Roll recognizes secondary school students (grades 9-12) who demonstrate a commitment to civic learning and engagement. Created by the ABA Commission on Civic Education in the Nation’s Schools, its purpose is to create enthusiasm for and reward academic and community volunteer achievements in civic education and engagement.
