MCTV Expands To The Village of Woodsfield

MCTV to acquire system and continue its commitment to invest in innovative technology and exceptional service to strengthen local communities.

MASSILLON, Ohio (October 30, 2018) – MCTV, a leading Internet, TV and Phone provider in Stark, Wayne, Summit, Holmes, Tuscarawas, Jefferson and Columbiana counties, plans to expand services to the Woodsfield, Ohio area. MCTV currently offers residential and business services to nearly 80,000 homes and businesses.

The Woodsfield system serves residents and businesses in the Villages of Woodsfield, Lewisville and surrounding townships in Monroe County. Woodsfield Village Council approved an agreement at a special meeting on October 29 to sell the assets of the Village-run system to MCTV. Customers should continue to contact the Village Utilities Department for questions regarding their Internet and TV service until further notice.

MCTV plans to complete the transition in the coming months following the purchase. During this time, there will be multiple improvements made to the current system, including the installation of new equipment to achieve the ultimate goal of providing customers with faster internet speeds and improved television service.

The Village of Woodsfield acquired the system approximately 10 years ago when a previous owner planned to shut it down. They worked diligently for the community and the residents to keep the system running, but the pace of technology and the expertise required to maintain an advanced broadband network is beyond the capabilities of a community the size of Woodsfield. Technological advances and capital investment demands make now the right time to transition ownership and management of the plant to MCTV.
