Body Art Committee
The OEHA Body Art Committee is a resource for members who are seeking information about the body art program. When any legislation or rule changes are proposed that impact the body art industry, this Committee will represent Environmental Health Specialists by reviewing and providing feedback on those proposals. The Committee will also discuss emerging trends or practices in the body art industry and how they fall into our current regulation. The body art industry is growing and changing rapidly! We are dedicated to providing the most up-to-date guidance and training opportunities to OEHA members.
NEHA provides body art training, education, and resources! Visit the NEHA Body Art website for:
- Body Art Model Code and Annex
- Body Art Facility Inspector Training
- Body Art Inspection Job Aids
- Body Art Policy Statements
- Quarterly Body Art Newsletters
Please contact me, Sarah Badenhop, Body Art Committee Chair, if you are interested in joining the Body Art Committee or if you have any questions about the body art program or practices.

Solid Waste Committee
The main purpose of the Solid Waste Committee is to follow proposed and adopted legislation and regulations. The committee reviews any proposed changes and provides input and recommendations. Currently, many the regulations which fall under the realm of “solid waste” are in the five year rule review process and are being closely watched. The committee is also following the progress and development of the “new” C&DD regulations which may be released for comment this year.
In addition, the committee continues to acknowledge the need to maintain and sustain the environment. Through better “material management” the committee will continue to focus much of its attention toward the reuse, recycling, and reduction of waste materials, rather than disposal.

Vector Control Committee
The vector control committee tracks issues primarily related to mosquito and tick-borne disease. The introduction of West Nile Virus at the start of the century provided additional emphasis on mosquito surveillance and control, while the recent expansion of tick populations and consequent increase in incidence of tick-borne diseases presents new obstacles. The reestablishment of bed bugs in Ohio and elsewhere has presented its own challenges. The committee promotes an integrated pest management (IPM) approach and supports incorporating IPM into a One Health framework. For more information or to join the committee, please reach out to me.
