Opportunity to identify Ordained Rostered Ministers to complete Discernment of Call of Bishop form prior to Assembly

On March 4, you received, as part of our 2019 Assembly communication, a letter from Pr. Craig Richter outlining the process for individuals and congregations to participate in the discernment process prior to the 2019 Southern Ohio Synod Assembly. A copy of this letter, along with Assembly registration materials, was sent to all congregations the same week. The letter states:

Within this first phase of the process on April 2, 2019, members of congregations and congregations of the Southern Ohio Synod will get the opportunity to start submitting the names of any ordained minister on the roster of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America who they request to complete a discernment form. (Please note: Requesting the completion of a discernment form does not mean the individual will be nominated on the First Ballot at Synod Assembly. Nominations are not official until the First Nominating Ballot in the ecclesiastical process.)

On April 26th, this first phase of the process will conclude. Requests for names to complete Congregational Discernment Forms are due to the Synod Office by the end of the day local Synod time.

We pray that you have set aside time during this Lenten Season to go through the Bishop’s Call Process Devotions, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you as you consider which Ordained Rostered Ministers you believe should discern the call of Bishop of the Southern Ohio Synod at this time. If you have not, please consider reading through some of the devotions by clicking HERE.

If you are ready to submit the name of an Ordained Rostered Minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to whom a Discernment packet will be sent, please download and complete the ‘Discernment of Call as Bishop Request Form’ here or at the end of this message. We ask that you provide as much information as possible on the form, so we can reach the Rostered Minister you identified. If you have any problems with the form, please contact Susan Barton-Nonno at sbarton-nonno@southernohiosynod.org or 614.464.3532 ext 5.

All ‘Discernment Of Call As Bishop Request Forms’ must be received by the synod office by the end of the business day on April 26, 2019. Forms should be emailed to Susan Barton-Nonno at sbarton-nonno@southernohiosynod.org. Hard copies may be mailed to:
