Victims, families, friends and the communities of Dayton and El Paso

It is with great sadness and horror that we learned about the mass shooting in the Oregon District of Dayton in the early hours this morning.  We in this Synod territory pray for the victims and families touched by this unnecessary violence. Currently I am with bishops and voting members from across the ELCA as we gather for the Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee, and they too offer their prayers and support.

We pray too for those affected by the shooting in El Paso.

As we stand with Dayton, let us be diligent and vigilant in our prayer for peace and stand against violence. Let’s be Christ’s presence!

Read Bishop Dillahunt's messages this week regarding these shootings.
