Hilliard Rezoning Delayed

By KEVIN CORVO

Vision Development, which is seeking to build 281 apartments north of Davidson Road near Interstate 270, is expected to ask for a postponement of its proposal at the May 14 meeting of the Hilliard Planning and Zoning Commission.

Connie Klema, an attorney representing Vision Development, said May 11 she would ask the commission today, May 14, to postpone the rezoning application for 16 acres to the June 11 meeting.

Klema declined to comment on any possible changes being made to the proposal.

"We're putting it all together. ... Anything I said today could be different tomorrow," Klema said.

The application appeared this year on the commission's April 9 agenda and was postponed to May 14. It is Vision Development's second attempt to convince the commission to sign off on the rezoning request.

In November 2014, eight months after it was first introduced, planning and zoning commission members issued a negative recommendation to City Council concerning the rezoning.

The development, tentatively called the Pointe, began as a 381-unit proposal.

Vision Development met with Davidson Run homeowners several times last year before deciding on 281 apartments.

The 16 acres on the rezoning application are part of almost 48 acres owned by Wolpert Enterprises. The remainder of the parcel will retain commercial-development zoning, according to Klema.

As part of the project, Trueman Boulevard would be extended north to meet Edwards Farm Drive in Columbus.
