Feb. 11 Webinar Gets HBAs Set for Code Vote

On Feb. 11, NAHB’s Construction, Codes and Standards staff are offering a free, one-hour webinar at 1 p.m. ET to highlight the most significant proposals being considered for the International Code Council’s (ICC) Group A Online Governmental Consensus Vote, and to review the voting procedures.

Staff will provide the information and documents necessary to communicate NAHB’s top issues and voting positions with code officials — and they hope that HBA leaders will jump at the chance to make sure the next edition of the building code is safe, efficient and cost-effective.

This stage of ICC’s code development process has had some significant delays due to issues with electronic voting devices during last October’s public comment hearings in Long Beach, Calif. The vote, scheduled for Feb. 8-21, is open to all ICC code officials who have been validated as voters by their jurisdiction.

The webinar will also set the stage for this year’s Group B code development cycle, which includes the International Residential Code and the International Energy Conservation Code.

NAHB will post its Online Governmental Consensus Voting Guide before the final vote takes place so members can discuss and share with the 6,000 registered governmental voting representatives throughout the United States before they cast their online ballots.

Here’s the webinar link again. Make it part of a group meeting with your HBA or get some colleagues together around the computer to participate. But please attend: Being a builder is challenging enough. With your active participation, NAHB can help make sure your business remains viable. If you are not able to attend the webinar live, a recorded version will be posted once the session is over.
