Setting a New Standard
Certified Fluid Sealing Professional Program Launches
The launch of the Certified Fluid Sealing Professional (CFSP) designation by the Independent Sealing Distributors Association is designed to assist the industry to have more qualified and competent employees. In development for the past 2 years, the ISD Certification project has finished all the preliminary work and is now ready for launch.
The CFSP exam is based upon eight of the Fluid Sealing Association (FSA) product standards manuals, including: Metallic Gasketing; Compression Packings; Mechanical Seals; Non-metallic Gaskets; Molded Packing; Non-Metallic Expanison Joints; and, Ducting Systems and the FSA/ESA glossary of fluid sealing terms and components. The 212 question exam is designed to measure a broad base of knowledge by requiring the candidates to complete testing on all of the eight FSA product standard manuals. The exam is "open book" and is given on line in two parts 2 1/2 hour segments.
By launching this program, ISD becomes part of a nationwide trend among professions to identify those individuals who meet high standards in their respective fields. Certification programs not only develop and encourage ongoing educational development but they greatly enhance the credibility of industry professionals serving the public.
Joe Gallagher, ISD Certification Committee Chairman, summarizes it best when he says, "Having a certification program adds credibility to our industry. It assures our customers that when they work with a CFSP, that individual has a broad knowledge of the products we sell".
