WNCN in Raleigh is looking for a smart, dynamic Sports storyteller who understands what it takes to succeed in a multiple platform enviroment. Outstanding work online, Facebook, Twitter and social media platforms is a must. This candidate will report and anchor sportscasts on air, online and on mobile. Excellent enterprise Sports reporting, writing and in the field live skills are required. Expertise in sports reporting should go well beyond the box scores. Ability to maintain professional and personal appearance is required along with participation in station community outreach projects. Ability to shoot and edit preferred. Essential Job Qualifications: Formal education equivalent to a BS degree in Journalism, Communications or related field. Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of one year of experience equals one year of education. Minimum five years sports reporting/anchor experience in local television news, including writing, producing, sports reporting and anchoring. Demo required. Sports Reporting skills mandatory. Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to on-air presentation of news stories and web reporting. Accurate and comprehensive writing skills as well as good communication skills. Ability to maintain professional and personal appearance. Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn new systems.Ability to shoot and edit is preferred. Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including: • ability to verbally communicate in English • ability to read computer monitor information (words and data) • ability to hear detailed spoken communication • ability to remain sedentary and to travel to work location • ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers • abolity to lift more than 25 pounds. ability to analyze data, concentrate, reason, and write • ability to perform under emotional stress • availability for shift reporting and station promotional activity; 24 hour on-call availability.
