B&D July Meeting Recap: August Meeting is This Week

The July meeting of the BIA’s Builder and Developer’s Council met via zoom with special guest, Delaware County Engineer Chris Bauserman.

Engineer Bauserman introduced attendees to new office personnel, Mike Love, who moves into a new role within the office, replacing John Piccin and Will Ferguson, formerly of BIA member Kimley-Horn.

Bauserman expressed his disappointment regarding the recent passage of Ohio Senate Bill 4, which mandates the usage or prevailing wage within Transportation Improvement Districts (TIDs). Previously, TID’s have not required prevailing wage and Bauserman believes this change will limit the usage and effectiveness of TIDs in the future. As of July 2nd, Governor DeWine had not yet officially signed this legislation.

Bauserman also provided an overview of upcoming road projects in the County and took questions from attendees.

Following Bauserman, updates were provided on OHBA activities by former BIA President Bill Owens;  David Reutter of the Franklin Water & Soil District gave further updates on job site collateral. Scott Doran reported on Ohio’s EPA’s updating policy on Ephemeral Streams policy.

The Council also reviewed the association's strategic initiatives for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021.

The August meeting of the Council will also be held via zoom (August 5 at 3:30 pm) and will feature Scott Messer, Director of Building & Zoning Services for the City of Columbus.
