IMEA Insulate & Isolate Workshop

The primary purpose of INSULATE and ISOLATE is to guard workers from any two simultaneous points of contacts with energized and/or any grounded conductors (difference of potential). This includes wires, poles, cross arms, equipment or anything that is at a different potential. (Second point of contact.) Properly performed Insulate and Isolate techniques used in conjunction with the necessary Insulating Personal Protective Equipment (IPPE) allows a qualified line worker to safely work on and around energized equipment and conductors.
Topics covered during this workshop include:

*Insulating Personal Protective Equipment (IPPE) * Second points of contact
*Minimum Approach Distance (M.A.D.) *Insulating Protective Equipment (IPE)

IMEA Safety Program Member: $300.00 per person

Non-IMEA Member: $600.00 per person
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received 5 days prior to the start date of class. After that date, fees will be charged for expenses incurred by IMEA.

IMEA 612 Intermediate Workshop (#082222)

Location: Scottsburg, IN.
To provide workshop participants instruction on 600 - amp underground distribution and overhead distribution construction and maintenance practices including switches, regulators, capacitors, and reclosers as well as bucket truck operation. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill needed for the installation and maintenance of 600 amp underground and three phase overhead distribution systems. Energized conditions will be simulated during segments of this workshop.

IMEA 611 Basic Construction and Maintenance Workshop (#102323)

To provide workshop participants instruction on 200 - Amp underground distribution system construction and overhead distribution construction including staking, pole setting, pole framing, and pole guying as well as bucket truck and digger derrick operation. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill needed for tool and material identification, basic equipment operation, and basic underground and overhead construction methods under de-energized conditions.

IMEA 610 Wood Pole Climbing Workshop (#102124)
Date: October 21, 2024 - November 1, 2024
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Frankfort, IN.
This workshop is designed to provide personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to be designated a wood pole qualified climber. IMEA instructors provide instruction on wood pole characteristics, inspection of wood pole climbing equipment, wood pole safe climbing techniques, basic rope knots and splicing, and pole top rescue. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill needed for the employer to designate the participant as a qualified wood pole climber. Participants will engage in classroom instruction and field exercises including wood pole inspection, climbing equipment inspection, wood pole climbing, rope knot tying and rigging, hand line use, hanging cross arms, basic tool use, and performing pole-top rescue. Successful skills demonstration and written examination is required for course completion.
