It will explore the expected role of local public health, including where responsibilities may overlap. The session will also address social consumption sites and discuss what they are and what may be expected of local public health moving forward. Educating Merchants: Training for Tobacco Inspectors This training will provide guidance for distributing materials and resources to tobacco retailers, informing them of current fines for noncompliance, the importance of age verification, tips for refusing sales, and training opportunities for clerks on responsible sales practices.
06/18/2026	MHOA Workplace Safety and De-Escalation Training The Akillian Gallery 900 Randolph St, Canton, MA 02021, MHOA Workplace Safety and De-Escalation Training Dates and Times: June 18, 2026 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Location: Akillian Gallery Massasoit Community College: 900 Randolph St, Canton, MA 02021 Description: This training places a strong emphasis on teaching participants how to maintain their physical and emotional safety during “high stress” conversations with clients while utilizing specific de-escalation tools. While learning the core components of de-escalation, participants will identify their own communication barriers in response to high stress interactions and learn counterintuitive responses. Participants will learn how to minimize the risks associated with workplace aggression and violence through prevention efforts, better ensure effective and “safe” responses while interacting with clients, and practice de-escalation techniques in responding to angry consumers and customers.
