WCNC, TEGNA’s Charlotte based NBC affiliate has a unique opportunity for a visionary Director of Sales. We are looking for a leader who is an inspiring, positive, results-oriented and confident executive, with a track record of recruiting, developing and retaining highly successful sales teams resulting in building an outstanding and highly performing sales culture.

You will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for achieving the revenue goals of the TEGNA business unit in the Charlotte, NC market.

As the Director of Sales, you will:

  • Create, lead and execute the strategy to achieve Broadcast TV and Digital revenue plan. 
  • Recruit, develop, retain and supervise an elite, highly performing sales team
  • Develop strong relationships with local advertisers as an influencer and accelerator for business opportunities
  • Optimize the vast product set, training opportunities, vendor and consulting resources available to WCNC and the TEGNA sales divisions
  • Lead change effectively and innovate and embrace new product opportunities
  • Price inventory to meet and exceed budget goals with accurate forecasting
  • Collaborate with others on ratings estimates and projections to optimize value
  • Work collaboratively with the WCNC department heads, station management and TEGNA Sales.
  • Represent WCNC in external sales and marketing related industry functions.
  • Travel on a regular basis and attend sales related functions after business hours

Requirements:
  • Five or more years of proven successful sales management with knowledge of all facets of TV broadcast, digital and marketing
  • Proven track record of cultivating a strong performing team with a strong culture.
  • Ability to effectively manage a large staff with various skill sets.
  • Must be able to work under pressure with changing priorities and goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think and lead strategically and be a proven problem solver and thought leader.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Nielsen, Wide Orbit Traffic, Wide Orbit Analytics, ShareBuilder, Matrix experience desirable.
  • Advanced CRM system experience; Salesforce.com experience desirable.
