Happy Summer in New England!

On behalf of the NeSSA Board, I am excited to announce that we have surpassed our goal of 400 members in 2025! Welcome to our new members and thank you to our hard-working Board of Directors for your support.  A strong membership is beneficial to us all as it sets a high standard for our local industry and helps in our legislative efforts when they arise.

To those who came to the 2025 Northeast Storage EXPO - thank you for another amazing show! We showcased our largest exhibit hall yet, networked with new and old friends, and learned from some excellent speakers with topics such as how to prepare for a softening market, improve our current operations, and adjust to AI in our businesses. We received some great reviews and valuable feedback that we are considering for future events.

The Fall Retreat is another great opportunity to see what our live events are all about! This year's Retreat is returning to the popular Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, MA on September 24. Along with in-depth education on hot self storage topics, we have added more time for networking with other owners and vendors. This small event has grown massively over the last few years, but while still maintaining its intimate nature. It is personally one of my favorite events of the year and I truly hope to see you there!

If you haven’t attended one of our events in recent years, we want to hear from you! Please reach out to me, Courtney, or any Board member. Our program committee works hard to provide insightful education and networking to all our members. We are here to listen and provide great resources for all our members.

At this year’s EXPO, we were able to honor the late Charlie Fritts by presenting his wife, Kathy, with a lifetime achievement award and raised money for a cancer research grant in his name through Kure It. If you would like to make a donation to help us reach our goal of $75,000, please send your check to Kure It, Inc. to 1300 Quail Street, Suite 104, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Please include “Charlie Fritts fund” in the memo line.

In case you missed it, we are diligently working behind the scenes towards a merger with NHSSA. Surveys have gone to both associations' members to gauge support for this endeavor. We are confirming legal details and timing with the same attorneys who assisted us with our original merger for NeSSA. If you have questions or concerns, please make sure you reach out to any of us on the Board or to Courtney, or include them in your survey answers. You can read more about this here.
