Highlights of Ohio Medicaid's Medical Care Advisory Committee Q2 Meeting

The Ohio Department of Medicaid’s Medical Care Advisory Committee (MCAC) held its second quarterly meeting on May 18.  MCAC members attended in-person and guests participated online.  OAMES member Ann Cornelius, VP of Operations for DASCO Home Medical Equipment, was recently appointed to the MCAC with the support of OAMES and we’re grateful for her time and commitment to represent Ohio's HME providers in these important discussions. 

Issues discussed at the May meeting included Comprehensive Maternal Care (CMC), Ohio’s FY 24-25 Operating Budget update (HB 33), proposed federal changes in Medicaid programs’ MCACs, and the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) unwinding.  One of the key changes CMS is proposing for MCACs is to establish two committees to replace the existing MCACs which would include a Medicaid Advisory Committee and Beneficiary Advisory Committee and require that appointments be made by the state’s Medicaid Director or higher state authority.
