Remembering Sam Gerhardstein

Sam GerhardsteinIt is with deep sadness that we share the news that longtime lobbyist and beloved friend and colleague Sam Gerhardstein died on Monday, February 12. His wife, former State Representative Dorothy Pelanda, shared the following with the OLA:

Samuel E. Gerhardstein, 68, of Venice Florida and formerly Marysville, Ohio, died February 12 following a stroke and a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

His career began with an internship in the Ohio Senate and later as legislative aide to Senator Paul Gillmor. He later held roles at the Ohio Department of Administrative Services and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

He joined Columbia Gas/Nisource and served as Director of Governmental Affairs from 1996-2015. He then founded Capitol Success Consulting and lobbied independently until his retirement in 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife and former State Representative Dorothy Pelanda of Venice Florida, daughters, grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Sam's family, friends, colleagues and all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be March 2, 2024, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place in Bellevue, Ohio, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
