Governor Mike DeWine has ordered for flags in Cuyahoga County and select buildings in Columbus to be lowered in honor of a northeast Ohio police officer who was fatally shot Saturday evening.

DeWine said that United States and state of Ohio flags are to be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds throughout Cuyahoga County and at the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center and the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus beginning Sunday until sunset on the day of the officer's funeral.

All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may fly the flags at half-staff at their discretion for the same time period.
