Sara Brandspigel, MPH

Sara Brandspigel, MPH, is a research instructor at the Colorado School of Public Health, and Assistant Director of the Program for Injury Prevention, Education and Research (PIPER). Sara’s work focuses on bridging research and practice and strengthening the field of injury prevention through training, workforce development and translation. She has worked on multiple suicide prevention research studies and recently led development of the Colorado Gun Storage Map, a web-based resource for Coloradans seeking out-of-home storage of firearms during periods of crisis. Currently, she leads a national peer-learning initiative funded by CDC to enhance public health attention to child maltreatment prevention and serves as Research Engagement and Translation Director for Systems For Action, a national program office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Prior to joining the Colorado School of Public Health, she worked in multiple sectors, including a state public health department, community-based non-profit and a national public health association. She holds an MPH in maternal and child health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health and a BA from Wesleyan University.
