Brief description of your committee: The SAVIR Anti-racism Interest Group (AIG) actively integrates anti-racism principles and frameworks into injury and violence education, research, research methodologies, and dissemination and implementation of research and practice.

Committee Responsibilities:

AIG collaborates with all SAVIR committees on AIG initiatives, and works to include anti-racism priorities in all SAVIR activities, guiding anti-racist policy and research in the injury and violence research field, developing and disseminating anti-racism focused resources to SAVIR members. The goal of AIG is to contribute to the growing body of science on race, racism, health inequities, and health disparities in the field of injury and violence research.

To date, we have published research to guide health equity research, collaborated with the Advocacy and Policy committee to develop various policy statements, developed equity presenter guidelines for SAVIR, developed the code of conduct for SAVIR conference attendees and presenters, collaborated with the Safe States Injury and Violence Prevention Health Equity Committee and designed an ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) Project in collaboration with Safe States and NNPHI (National Network of Public Health Institutes).

Why members should join your committee: Members should join the AIG committee to help advance AIG principles goals and objectives throughout our work at SAVIR. With your help we can partner and collaborate with members, committees, organizations, and entities that broaden our mission and increase both internal and external stakeholder involvement in anti-racism initiatives.
