Verifiying Your Vaccination Status
Verifying your Vaccination Status:
- Show an official CDC vaccination card and government-issued ID. A copy or photo of the vaccination card is acceptable.
- Show an electronic vaccination card via the CLEAR app. If you choose this method, you only need to set up a Digital Vaccine Card, not the full Health Pass. Get started by downloading the app on iOS or Android.
Upon arrival at Courtyard by Marriott, attendees will show their Covid-19 vaccination status at the conference registration table and receive an identification sticker for their meeting badge. This sticker must be on your badge to access meeting activities.
There will be no exceptions to this vaccination policy. Please bring facial masks, as this is required for all conference proceedings.
We are committed to doing everything in our power to provide the safest in-person environment and experience. We will provide appropriate physical distancing in meeting rooms and hand sanitizer throughout the meeting venue.
We will continue to follow the science and monitor federal, state and local guidelines and adjust our policies as needed to ensure a safe and comfortable meeting for all attendees
Thank you for being an important part of the violence and injury prevention research community and coming together at this particularly critical time.

Proposal Information
The theme of the SAVIR 2022 conference is:
"Injury Prevention for the Ages: Advancing Violence and Injury Research Across the Lifespan"
Authors are invited to submit abstracts and other proposals for consideration focused on research and research-based practice encompassing all aspects of injury and violence prevention. During this meeting, we will highlight the creative ways that scientists and practitioners are advancing injury and violence research for populations across the lifespan. Developmental and social changes as people grow from infants through seniors greatly affect how we understand injury and violence prevention. The nature of risk and protection for injury and violence as well as the characteristics of strategies, interventions, and policies to intervene and prevent them changes as individuals, populations, and communities age. We welcome your submissions on these and other important topics in injury and violence prevention!
SAVIR values and encourages diversity and inclusion in its membership, and strives to address health inequities and racism in public health research. Hence, we invite all abstract submitters to please review the SAVIR “Conference Presenter Guidelines to Address Health Inequity and Racism" before abstract submissions and try to address these issues as they may relate to your work.
SAVIR welcomes proposals both across varied injury and violence topics and across multiple approaches including sessions on interventions, practice, policy, methods related to different injury and violence mechanisms, analytical strategies, advocacy, and theory.
SAVIR conferences have provided a unique forum for participants to learn, exchange, and build upon the disseminated ideas to improve health and safety. With the ever-changing context and requirements due to COVID we are planning a conference with multiple forms of access--both in-person and virtual. As always, the goal of scientific sessions is to create an interface between researchers, methodologists, and practitioners to exchange new ideas, studies, and ways to promote equity in health through injury and violence research.
Be a part of the exchange by submitting a proposal!
The deadline for most submissions is October 22, 2021.
The SAVIR Program Committee will notify applicants regarding the status of their proposals by December 3rd, 2021.
If accepted for presentation, the presenting author(s) agree to present their proposal at the SAVIR Annual Conference March 30-April 1 2022. The presenting author must register to attend the 2022 SAVIR Meeting.
NOTE: It is our current plan to make our conference a multiaccess event with both onsite and digital programming.
Short Courses are slated for 4 hours on Wednesday morning before the conference (and possibly Friday afternoon after the conference). It is usually taught by one or more instructors on a topic of interest to Injury and Violence Prevention researchers and practitioners with (optional) hands-on practice time for attendees. If selected, up to two instructors per short course will receive complimentary conference registration, though more instructors are allowed. Instructors will also receive standardized course evaluations after the conference. Accepted short courses will need to meet the minimum number of registrants to be offered at the conference.
Technical Workshops provide in-depth technical information about a topic relevant to injury and violence prevention researchers, preferably methodological (technical) in nature. Technical workshops will run concurrently with other 90-minute conference sessions. If selected, one instructor per technical workshop will receive complimentary conference registration, though more instructors are allowed. Instructors will also receive standardized course evaluations after the conference.
Scientific Abstracts During this meeting we will highlight ways that scientists are approaching injury and violence prevention research as a means of understanding and mitigating the impact of injury and violence across the lifespan. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts relevant to the meeting’s theme, but submissions relevant to all areas of injury and violence prevention and control are also encouraged. Individual abstracts might be accepted for oral presentations or poster presentations. Abstracts accepted for a poster session may also be asked to give a live 3 minute “flash science” presentation as a hook to encourage participants to come to their poster. The flash science format challenges authors to present their research in a clear, concise yet provocative way and provides the audience with a small taste of what will be presented in the subsequent poster session.
Group Sessions NEW THIS YEAR we are offering an opportunity for a group of researchers who are working together to propose a full session with the topic, specific abstracts, and a moderator. In this way, a research group or collaborative could build a session in which each abstract builds on and refers to the previous ones. More total information can be shared because repetition of background information or some common methodologies can be avoided. Group Sessions proposals will be submitted after every abstract within it has been individually submitted. The Group Session proposal will include the abstract IDs from the individually submitted studies, a proposed title/topic name for the session, a very brief description (100 word) of the connection between the abstracts, and the name and contact information for a moderator. ALL content for the abstracts must be submitted in the individual abstracts.
Abstracts selected for the conference will be published in the BMJ Journal; please review the publishing license information HERE.

Commonly Asked Questions:
Can I be part of more than one proposal:
Yes, you can submit more than one proposal.
Can I be placed in the same session as my collaborator who also is presenting?
