LIRS has suggested talking points for those wishing to contact the state government regarding welcoming Syrian Refugees

While we mourn with the people of France for the murder of innocents, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) is gravely concerned for the safety of the refugees who have fled and continue to flee the violence of ISIS.

LIRS says, 'While the Paris attacks have made some Americans more fearful and ignited concerns around refugees in the U.S., from our daily work we know that the refugees admitted to the U.S. seeking safety and protection from violence, war, persecution and other conditions in their homeland are not a risk to our safety."

In the attached document LIRS went on to say, "Intensive security screening by the U.S. Government of all refugees prior to admission to the U.S. is, and will continue to be, a detailed and rigorous process. The U.S. hand picks the refugees who are resettled here."

If you would like to write the Ohio Governor or your State Legislative Representative, please see the attached document for refugee data and suggested talking points from LIRS.

On the last page of the document are ways you can help, even if letter writing isn't your thing.

Please keep all of the people affected by the violence in Paris, as well as Beirut, and around the globe, at the hands of terrorists and others who seek to persecute and harm others, in your prayers.
