LMI Poster Contest for Junior and High School Students-Spread the Word!

Create a Poster to Increase Awareness about Malaria and The Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI).

For two age categories:

• Junior High (7th and 8th grades)
• High School (9th – 12th grades)

Poster Guidelines:

• The poster should be of a size and dimensions to be enlarged to a 2' by 3'.
• Any medium can be used: i.e. markers, digital, paints, colored pencils, crayons
• The poster must include the following:
  • The words "Lutheran Malaria Initiative" and initials "LMI"
  • The initials "ELCA"
  • The words "Southern Ohio Synod"
  • The words "United Nations Foundation"

AND

• At least two of the following facts about malaria and the LMI:
  1) Malaria kills a child every 45 seconds
  2) Malaria is a disease of poverty
  3) Using a mosquito net at night can prevent malaria
  4) Malaria can be eliminated
  5) LMI is a partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), Lutheran World Relief (LWR) and The United Nations Foundation
  6) The goals of the LMI are to increase awareness and educate about malaria as well as raise $75 million dollars over three years.

Entries must be postmarked by: Friday October 15, 2010. Include with each entry your name, address, grade, home phone number and your congregation. Personal contact information will not be released.

Judging will be based upon: originality, creativity, ability to raise awareness about LMI and malaria.

The winning posters, one in each age category, will be announced: Saturday October 23rd at the Midnight Madness to End Malaria events.

The Top Winner of each group will receive:

7th & 8th Grade - Registration Cost to The Quake, January 14-16, 2011, Cincinnati Ohio

9th – 12th Grade - Registration Cost to The LYO Annual Retreat, January 21-23, 2011 Camp Kern

Honorable Mention Winners will receive a LMI-SOS tee shirt.

Entries will not be returned and will be the property of LMI-SOS.

LMI-SOS will have the right to reproduce the entries as suitable.
