 Sean Durkin (1969-2019) – Ursuline High School

Sean was a 1988 graduate of Ursuline High School and was a member of the 1988 AA State Championship baseball team. Durkin served as a teacher at Ursuline High School from 2004-2019 and additionally as the school’s Athletic Director from 2010-2019.

On the baseball diamond, Durkin compiled a 306-138 record (1998-2015) which included 11 District Championships, 6 Regional Championships, 3 State Championship game appearances, and the 2000 Division III State Championship.

Coach Durkin was also an impressive 252-131 as the Lady Irish basketball head coach (1998-2011; 2014). He won 9 District Championships, 2 Regional Championships, and the 2004 Division III State Championship. Coach Durkin was also recognized as the 2006 Associated Press State Coach of the Year after his team finished as the Division III State Runner-Up.

Coach Durkin was inducted into the Ursuline High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2009 as a result of his success on both the diamond and the basketball court. Sean was inducted into the NEOBCA Hall of Fame in 2017.

Coach Durkin passed away in 2019, leaving his parents, children, and hundreds of former players to cherish his memory.
