Mark Pelfrey – Springboro High School

Mark Pelfrey graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1984, he played two years at Sinclair Community College before earning his bachelor degree from Ohio University, He received his graduate degree from Miami University.

He began his teaching and coaching career at New Miami High School in Butler County where he taught math, was an assistant football coach and head baseball coach for three years. He was hired in the fall of 1993 at Springboro High School where he has taught math and led the baseball program for the last 30 years. During that time, he has also spent time as an assistant coach in football and golf.

Coach Pelfrey has compiled a 549-299 record including 11 league titles, 12 Sectional Title, 2 District Tiles and a regional championship, as well as an appearance in the 2019 State Final Four. More than 60 of his former players have played in college and 5 have played professionally.

Mark has been involved with both the Southwest Ohio Baseball Coaches Association-SWOBCA and the Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association-MVBCA serving as President of the MVBCA. Coach Pelfrey has also served as a district rep with the OHSBCA.

Coach Pelfrey has been named league Coach of the Year 8 times and MVBCA Coach of the Year 3 times. He is a member of the MVBCA Hall of Fame as well as the Springboro Athletics Hall of Fame.

I would like to thank the Springboro Community for their support over the years. I have been blessed to coach/teach in a fantastic community with great support from administrators, teachers, and parents.

This honor is shared with all of the assistant coaches that I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from.

Mark and his wife Heidi have been married for 32 years and raised three children; Cody, Grace and Sam.
