Chris Veidt – Whiteoak High School

 

Chris Veidt is a 1982 graduate of Logan High School and 2023 member of the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Chris was fortunate enough to play High School Baseball for 2014 OHSBCA Hall of Famer Ron Janey. Veidt attended and was a member of the University of Rio Grande (83,84) and Wilmington College (85,86) Baseball squads, graduating from Wilmington in 1986 with a Degree in Health and Physical Education (K-12). Coach Veidt received his Master’s Degree in Health and Sports Science (2004) from the University of Dayton. 

 

Immediately after his College graduation he was hired to be the lead Assistant Coach under legendary Red’s Hall of Famer Brooks Lawrence at Wilmington College (87-91). The Quakers captured the 1989 District 22 Championship. 

 

In 1992 Coach Veidt was hired as the Head Baseball Coach at Whiteoak High School and is preparing to enter his 33rd consecutive season at the helm of the Wildcats. During his tenure he has amassed a 462-346 won loss record. His Whiteoak HS teams have been State ranked 10 times, finishing as State Poll Champions in 2018, and a #2 finish in 2023. His teams have won 12 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Championships, including two perfect seasons (2013 & 2018). 16 Sectional, 4 District and 1 Regional title. Whiteoak finished the 2018 season as the #1 Ranked Division 4 team in the State of Ohio and earned a trip to the OHSAA State Final Four. Veidt was also the Head Coach of Hillsboro Post 129 American Legion (1997-2001), leading them to a State Tournament berth in 1998.

 

Coach Veidt has been honored as the SHAC Coach of the year five times, Southeast District COY nine times and Mizuno and Augusta State COY twice. He also has been awarded the MSA Architects (2013), and NHSBCA Regional (2018) Coach of the Year honors. The Baseball facility at Whiteoak HS has achieved the Southeast District Field of the year twenty times and also garnered the inaugural Mar-Co Clay State Field of the Year in 2017.

 

Veidt is a proud member of the Southeast District where he served as Junior and Senior Representative from 1997-2002.He was also inducted into the Southeast District Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014. Coach Veidt has been an OHSBCA State Poll voter since 1993, and had the honor of serving on the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games training site staff in Atlanta, Georgia. During Veidt’s tenure at Whiteoak High School he has had the privilege of coaching 26 All Ohio players, with 25 going on to play Collegiate baseball. 

 

Coach Veidt and his wife of 30 years, Kelli, reside in Wilmington, Ohio. They are the proud parents of Olivia, an Early Childhood Education major, and Senior scholarship softball player at Lander University, Greenwood, South Carolina.
