Jim Bittengle - 1975

Shadyside High School

Hall of Fame


A three-sport standout at Shadyside HS, Jim graduated from Ohio University in 1956 and obtained his master's degree in safety and physical education from West Virginia University in 1971. He served two years with the U.S. Army. In the fall of 1959, Jim returned to Shadyside coaching baseball for 16 years, 14 of which he was the head coach. He was also an assistant football coach for 6 years and basketball for 8 years. His overall head baseball caoching record was 176-86. He won three Eastern Ohio league titles, reached the sectional tourney finals 7 times in 14 years, and captured 3 Sectional championships. Jim served on the OHSBCA executive board for 10 years. Jim and his wife Patricia have three children Jim, John and Debbie.
