Digitization of the Account Opening Process - COMPLIMENTARY POWER HOUR
PaymentsFirst and the Center 4 Payments recently launched their second nationwide market study focusing on Digitizing Payments: The Online Account Opening Experience. The survey examines current financial institution practices and procedures to safely manage online account opening, and to detect, evaluate, and mitigate associated risk throughout the online account opening process.
The study brings into focus:
- Online account opening is a growing trend;
- Risk avoidance is a key rationale for not offering online account opening;
- Financial institutions are diligent about fraud mitigation associated with online account opening;
- Various tools are used to mitigate risk and fraud with online account opening.
The digitization of financial services is a trend that is expected to continue. While digital financial services present unique risks to organizations, they can be mitigated. By leveraging the information outlined in the study, financial institutions can continue to meet the needs of their customers and members, while protecting their interests and safeguarding the U.S. financial system.

Elder Financial Abuse - PALS Online Course
Financial Elder Abuse is viewed as one of the fastest growing crimes in the US. As of the last census, over 41 million citizens were identified as aged 65 and older. This represents over 18% of the population. By 2030, the number could reach almost 75 million!
Why should you be concerned? Money!
These individuals hold nearly 70% of all savings deposits in commercial banks, nearly 80% of dollars in savings institutions and 80% own their homes. Why Should We Offer International ACH? - PALS Recorded Webinar
International ACH transactions are now regulated under a Rule which requires Gateway Operators to classify payments that are transmitted outside of the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S. as International ACH transactions (IAT). IAT entries are more common every year and subject to both ACH Rules and OFAC. It’s important that your financial institution stay up-to-date on secure and efficient IAT processing. If you have customers transacting business internationally, this session will help you understand the requirements of Originating IAT entries and the countries who support direct bank ACH payments. It will provide information as you consider your options for serving your customer needs.
