Director of Adult Ministry

All Saints Lutheran Church, Worthington

SUPERVISOR: Lead Pastor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Adult Ministry shall, with the help of the pastors and volunteers, develop, implement, and administer adult ministry at All Saints so that people are transformed into servants of Christ. This person will contact, coordinate and encourage volunteers for various activities at the church. There will be office hours along with the occasional evening and weekend obligations.

HOURS AND SALARY: 20 hours per week, 1040 hours per year $15.00 per hour, $15,600

WEEKLY OBLIGATIONS

• Weekly All Saints staff meetings & Program staff meetings

• Provide a “Ministry of Presence” on Sunday mornings so as to build relationships with adults and volunteers.

OTHER ADULT PROGRAMS OF THE CHURCH, AS NEEDED PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITY

• Assemble and work with a vision team to continually mold the vision and determine the direction of adult ministry

• With the vision team, review the strategic plan, develop program goals and objectives

• Plan new activities and modify / improve existing functions

QUALIFICATIONS

Faith

• A mature faith in Jesus Christ shown through Christ-like authenticity in action and a basic understanding of Lutheran theology

• Regularly interacts with God through worship, prayer, study and service Personal attributes / interpersonal skills

• Applies sounds judgment in all aspects of program operation and interaction with adults

• Acts with integrity and maturity in sensitive /personal issues

• As a leader, is approachable and empathic

• Understands own limitations in dealing with sensitive, potentially dangerous situations; knows when to seek outside guidance or when to refer to other professionals

• Is an effective listener while maintaining a detached interest in each individual

• Works effectively in a team environment demonstrating leadership and organizational skills

• Possesses a spiritual “presence”

• Maintains a healthy sense of humor; doesn’t take things (suggestions and constructive criticism) personally

Education / Experience

• Some college required, college graduate preferred

• Experience with working with adults

• Effective teacher and/or administrator

• A positive, outgoing, articulate, friendly and respectful nature

• Creative

• Flexible

• Well-organized

• Dependable

• Familiarity with use of technologies appropriate to this position

• Demonstrates an ability to work well as a member of a team, including working well with the full time pastors and church staff and with lay leadership
