Youth Minister, Part-Time

Trinity Lutheran Church, Marysville, Ohio

The half-time Youth Minister is a dedicated, outgoing and passionate individual who is a Christ-follower with a gift for building and equipping volunteer leaders. You must be a trustworthy individual with great ideas AND follow through; striving to do your best with the gifts God gives you. You will embrace and carry out the ministry vision, and understand the value of building relationships with and among children, youth, parents, and the church family. The half-time Youth Minister primarily leads the 7-12th grade youth to grow in their faith relationship with Jesus and with the church family.

Vision: ▪ “It’s all about building relationships”; a growing personal relationship with Jesus and quality relationship with church family. ▪ At Trinity we are equipping children, youth, and families to love and serve. ▪ We want all children and youth who enter our building/groups to understand Trinity to be a fun, loving, and safe place to be. ▪ We operate on an outcome based ministry approach. We aim to have youth who will know that church is a fun, loving, and safe place to be, and will know many adults and children who love them and can be counted on. Youth will know the Lord’s Prayer, Apostles Creed, 10 Commandments, the basic Bible stories, and be able to navigate through the Bible. Youth will know that God is not confined to a group of people or a building, but is in their lives and desires a personal relationship with them. Youth will be able to study the Bible for personal growth, and lead a group of children, peers, or even adults in a meaningful Bible Study. Youth will want to continue growing and developing a personal relationship with God.

Responsibilities: ▪ Work in collaboration with and report directly to Trinity’s Family Minister. ▪ Oversee Restore(d) (Trinity’s 7th-12th Grade Sunday evening Youth Group). ▪ Recruit and equip a leadership team for Restore(d) composed of quality adult volunteer leaders. ▪ Organize and oversee Trinity’s travel youth mission trip and fundraising. ▪ Plan and participate in events, retreats, and service projects. ▪ Connect with youth and church family on Sunday mornings at Trinity. ▪ Maintain an ongoing presence to encourage and support youth (like attend youth concerts, sporting events, grab coffee with, etc.). ▪ Maintain attendance records. ▪ Plan and manage budget, and make expenditures, with the approval of Trinity’s Family Minister. ▪ Be open to opportunities to proclaim the Gospel and build connections. (like participation in local ecumenical ministries)

Communication: ▪ Report directly to the Family Minister meeting together frequently to ensure communication lines are open and to maintain a shared vision for the children, youth, and church family ministry as a whole. ▪ Work closely and cooperatively with other Trinity staff. ▪ Effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, youth, parents, and church family (like update and maintain youth related pages on church website, church social media sites, church newsletter, emails, text messages, monthly report to Family Minister, etc.).

Personal growth: ▪ Maintain contact with other youth workers in the Southern Ohio Synod and/or Marysville area. ▪ Keep current with youth ministry developments through continuing education opportunities (such as meetings with other leaders, workshops, publications, podcasts, etc.) in consultation with the Family Minister. ▪ Actively seek opportunities to continue to grow in your relationship with God. ▪ Maintain active worship attendance at Trinity.
