Children's Minister
Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus
Vision: The Children’s Minister ensures the nursery is a secure, nurturing environment where each child will see, hear and feel the love of Jesus Christ and parents can feel confident their child will receive the highest quality of care and ministry.
The Children’s Minister contributes to our church’s mission to “Share the Word of God through worship and teaching, love and service, in our congregation in our community” by building an ongoing, weekly relationship with our children during Sunday morning worship.
Job Summary: The Children’s Minister is responsible for the care of toddlers and early-elementary-aged children during Sunday morning worship. In addition, he or she may prepare and present lessons or activities for children in the nursery, under the direction of the Spiritual Formation Team and Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church
Time Commitment:
• Approx 2 hours every Sunday: 10:15 a.m.- 12:15 p.m. currently and some special events
• Additional time required to prepare lessons or activities for the children
• May distribute take home Christian Education lessons, teachings, and materials to parents and families regardless of their attendance, to extend Spiritual Formation into families’ homes
• Total Monthly hours = 7-15 hours Compensation:
• $12-$20/hour based on experience and qualifications
• Time paid for lesson preparation
• Possibility for special event pay on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
1. Seeking a nurturing, caring, patient caregiver who enjoys working with young children. Experience in early childhood development or youth and family ministry a plus.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with parents.
3. Dependability.
4. Reliable transportation.
5. CPR and First Aid certified – or willingness to become certified.
6. Satisfactory completion of background check.
7. Must be 16 years of age or older.
8. Provide three references: one personal, two professional
9. Ability and eagerness to share and teach Christian faith in accordance with the Lutheran tradition
