Part-Time Youth Director
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Dublin
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) in Dublin, Ohio, is seeking a part-time Youth Director. Our mission is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and welcome all to grow with us in God’s love through worship, learning, service, and fellowship.
The vision for youth ministry at Prince of Peace is to foster a community where all youth experience God’s unconditional love for them, as they learn how to become disciples of Jesus’ grace and peace. To this end, we desire for our youth to connect in meaningful ways with Prince of Peace’s overall congregational life, including worship and music, fellowship, service learning, and local and global ministries. Above all, we believe that our youth bless God’s Church and world through their gifts and passions.
The desired candidate will:
1. be faithful to the ELCA’s teachings and Prince of Peace’s mission
2. have a BA and/or MA in Youth Ministry or Christian Education or significant youth ministry experience
3. cultivate an environment for our youth and their families that is safe, inclusive, and rooted in God’s grace
4. possess strong verbal and written communication skills
5. have effective organizational, teaching, and interpersonal abilities (especially with youth)
6. be proficient with social media
Youth Director responsibilities:
1. Assume primary leadership for high school Sunday school. This will include: planning and teaching lessons; weekly outreach/communication with the youth; supporting and recruiting lay leaders; equipping youth to serve as leaders for their ministry.
2. Alongside the Associate Pastor and the Youth Ministry Committee, plan monthly fellowship and service-learning activities, with an emphasis on communication, publicity, and logistics.
3. Work together with the Associate Pastor to plan and lead the triennial ELCA Youth Gathering, summer mission trips during Gathering off-years, and plan summer Confirmation camp.
4. Teach Confirmation on occasion with the pastors.
