Nursery Attendant (Sunday Mornings)

Redeemer Lutheran Church (ELCA) is seeking a Nursery Attendant for Sunday Mornings.
The nursery provides a safe, clean, supervised area for children up to the age of 5 to play and rest during worship and other church activities, so that their parents/guardians may participate without worry.
Duties
- Interact with the children: play, read, change diapers, feed bottles, as necessary.
- Interact with the parent/guardians: greet, ask/answer question; release children only to authorized persons; maintain a card file with biographical, allergy, special concerns info.
- Recruit, schedule and supervise volunteer helpers.
- Ensure that nursery volunteers have completed a service application for volunteers, and had references checked and background checks completed annually.
- Ensure that nursery volunteers are familiar with the guidelines for the nursery.
- Clean-up spills or other messes, sanitize toys, inform the Worship chair if items need to be repaired or replaced.
- Hours:
- Sept – May – Sunday mornings 8:15-12:30 (or until all children are picked up after noon)
- June- August – Sunday mornings 9:45 – 11:30 (or until all children are picked up after 11:00 am).
Qualifications
- Nurturing, caring, patient and enthusiastic.
- Child care experience.
- First aid and CPR certified (prefer that already have, but we can assist with obtaining.)
- Proof of a negative TB test.
- Pass a background check, including fingerprinting, before hiring.
- 19 years or older.
Terms
- This is a part-time paid staff position.
- Appropriate dress (clothing and footwear) required.
- Cell phone use (voice and text) prohibited while on duty (except to call 911, if necessary).
- Compensation: $40/Sunday, other days and times commensurate.
- 2 paid days off per year, arranged in advance.
- Report to the chair of Worship committee or their designee.
- Cooperate with an annual review/satisfaction survey as determined by the Worship and/or Personnel committee.
