Obituary for The Rev. Richard Jurgensen

The Reverend Richard Jurgensen went home to be with the Lord November 4, 2014. He was 90 years old.

Pr. Jurgensen was born September 11, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended St. Olaf University, Northfield, MN where he earned a B.A. degree in 1950. He then enrolled at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN from which he graduated with a B.D. in 1953. He was ordained in 1953.

He began his ministry as pastor of Little Falls and St. Peter Lutheran Churches in Dresser, Wisconsin, where he served from 1953 until 1957. He then served Scandinavia Lutheran Church and Farmington Lutheran Church, a two-point parish at Sheridan, WI from 1957 to 1961. He then served as campus pastor at Minot State Teachers College, Minot, MD; Northern Illinois University; and the University of Chicago. Pr. Jurgensen returned to parish ministry in 1980 at St. James Lutheran Church, Western Springs, IL.

He is preceeded in death by his wife, The Rev. Barbara Jurgensen.
